Itinerary
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park
Start your tour at the iconic GWK Cultural Park. The park features a colossal statue of the Hindu god Vishnu riding the mythical eagle Garuda. It's a vast area with several plazas, a lotus pond, and daily cultural performances.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking. The statue is very tall, so you'll get some great photos. Allow about an hour to explore the main area.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Pandawa or Melasti Beach
From GWK, head to either Pandawa or Melasti Beach. Both are known for their stunning views and white sand.
Pandawa Beach: Often called "Secret Beach," it's located behind dramatic limestone cliffs.
Melasti Beach: Known for its impressive cliffside road leading down to the beach, offering fantastic photo opportunities.
Tip: These beaches are perfect for a quick dip or just enjoying the scenery.
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM: Travel to Uluwatu Temple & Explore
Make your way to Uluwatu Temple, a majestic temple perched on a cliffside overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Tip: This is a fantastic spot for sunset. Be prepared for the cheeky monkeys that inhabit the area; they are known for stealing sunglasses, hats, and other loose items.
Note: The temple itself is a holy site, so be respectful and wear a sarong (usually provided at the entrance) and a sash.
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Sunset at Uluwatu Temple
The best time to visit Uluwatu Temple is late afternoon to catch the sunset. Arrive before the sun goes down to fully appreciate the views.
Optional: You can also watch the famous Kecak and Fire Dance performance, which usually starts around 6:00 PM, though this may extend your tour past the 6-hour mark.
6:30 PM onwards: Seafood Dinner at Jimbaran Bay
After the sunset at Uluwatu, head down to Jimbaran Bay for a fresh seafood dinner. The bay is famous for its beachfront restaurants where you can select your seafood and have it grilled to order.
Tip: The best time for dinner is around sunset (check the local sunset time for the day) so you can enjoy the beautiful views as you eat. The atmosphere is very romantic, with tables and chairs set directly on the sand.
